A native of Miami, Florida, Ed Quinton graduated from Duke University with an
economics degree where he enjoyed playing on Duke’s baseball team.
After graduation, Ed worked as a Research Assistant for United States
Senator John Heinz in Washington, D.C. He then moved back to Florida to attend
the University of Florida Law School where he was on the Law Review and graduated
in 1984.
After law school, Ed gained valuable trial experience while working
as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Joe Eaton. In 1985, he
joined a law firm started by his father, Al Quinton, which focused on representation
of Florida automobile dealers. Working with his current partner, Jim Adams,
Ed practiced as a trial attorney, primarily representing automobile dealers
in consumer litigation and in franchise disputes against automobile manufacturers.
Ed is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted in the United States
District Court for the Southern District of Florida; United States District
Court for the Middle District of Florida; United States Court of Appeal for
the 11th Circuit, and has practiced in other courts being admitted pro hoc
vice.
Having represented auto dealers for over 20 years, Ed has developed an expertise on dealer franchise issues, consumer litigation/class action representation, legal compliance issues and dealership buy-sell transactions. The majority of Ed’s practice involves providing counsel to dealers with respect to these dealer related legal matters, including legal compliance issues arising from daily dealership operations and Attorney General investigations, including advertising issues. Additionally, Ed works closely with the South Florida Auto Truck Dealers Association and the Florida Automobile Dealers Association to address all issues which impact dealers, including pending litigation and legislative activity. Ed has represented Florida dealers before the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, the Attorney General’s Office and has appeared before Florida legislative committees promoting pro-dealer legislation. Ed is a frequent speaker at auto dealer seminars, including South Florida Auto Truck Dealers Association and Florida Automobile Dealers Association presentations on various issues, including compliance matters. Ed is a member of the FADA Legislative Committee and attends the FADA Board Meetings as part of FADA’s Legal Team. Ed also attends the South Florida Auto Truck Dealers Association Board Meetings and advises the Greater Tampa Bay Dealers Association.
Ed resides with his wife and three children in Miami Shores, Florida where he has served as a Councilman on the Miami Shores Village Council.
