James Adams is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. His Undergraduate Degree was in Engineering and he worked as an Engineer for U.S. Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh before going to law school. He obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972 where he was on the Law Review, Order of Coif, and Class President.

Jim moved to Miami in 1972 and began the practice of law with a large insurance defense firm. He changed firms in 1975 and since that time, for almost thirty (30) years, and has worked predominantly in the area of automotive law. Jim’s practice involves all aspects of dealer franchise law, including attempts to add additional representation, dealer terminations, dealer transfers and all other aspects of the dealer-factory relationship. Jim has also been involved in drafting major portions of the Florida Franchise Law and has testified before the Florida Legislature on dealer related issues on numerous occasions.

Jim has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1972 and also is a member of Federal Bars, including the U.S. Florida District Courts and Appellate Courts. He has appeared extensively in State Courts, Federal Courts, The Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, before the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, and in various alternative dispute resolution procedures including the Ford Dealer Policy Board and General Motors Endispute Procedure. Jim has also spoken on numerous occasions before dealer associations and various conventions on automotive franchise issues.

Jim relocated from Miami to Boca Raton in 1989 where he currently resides and manages the firm’s Boca Raton Office.
