James D. Adams

Jim Adams is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Jim graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in engineering.  He worked as an Engineer for U.S. Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh before going to law school.  Jim obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972 where he was on the Law Review, Order of Coif, and Class President.

Jim moved to Miami in 1972 and since 1975 has worked predominantly in the area of automotive law.  Jim’s practice involves all aspects of dealer franchise law, including attempts to add additional representation, dealership terminations, dealership transfers and all other aspects of the dealer-factory relationship.  Jim drafted major portions of the Florida franchise statutes and has testified before the Florida Legislature on dealer related issues on numerous occasions.

Jim is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  He has extensively represented auto dealers in State courts, federal courts, the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, and in various manufacturer/dealer alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
